Website

With free options on social media, you may be wondering if a website is worth the investment. Here are a few benefits of creating a good website for your business: credibility, branding, leads, SEO-based traffic, basic automated customer service (i.e., hours, location, etc.), and updates/announcements. A website also gives you a landing page for your other digital marketing efforts. Caveat: free versions often come with restrictive options and paid subscriptions can be pricey.

Newsletter

A newsletter is a collection of small stories that provide regulart connections to your established clients. These short form stories are akin to social media posts — think Facebook — but can also link to longer form articles or blogs. This is an excellent way to collect and repurpose content that may have been overlooked by clients on other platforms or offer new, specialized information. Caveat: Newsletter creation is time-consuming and rarely goes deep into any topic.

Blog

Unlike newsletters, blogs tend to utilize keywords to optimize SEO and reach a broader, potentially untapped target audience. These longer form articles (50-1500 words) dig deep into a topic or idea, requiring a level of expertise. Providing this expert content for free can help build your client trust and interest. Caveat: Blogs require regular posting to be successful — preferably at least once per week.

Influencer

You don't need to be a social media guru to tap into the platform's marketing — let someone who is help you! Partner with an influencer whose platform and content align with your business's target audience without directly competing to leverage their reach and expertise. Caveat: You will need to make it a valuable trade on both ends which may be difficult for beginner entrepreneurs.

Pay-per-click Advertising

Pay-per-click advertising is just that ... an ad that you place on a search engine results page and pay based on the number of clicks versus an overall rate, making it much more affordable and highly targeted. Caveat: Be selective in placing your ad to maximize the effectiveness of your clicks and minimize empty click throughs.
